Dusk falls on a primeval landscape on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. A final relic from the world’s last ice age, this North Atlantic island nation is a world of knife-cut valleys, gargantuan fjords, monumental cliffs, black-sand beaches, thundering waterfalls, and silent white glaciers. Recent volcanic eruptions remind us that Iceland is still a country in the making, with changed landscapes that even Icelanders continue to discover.

As you may have noticed due to the influx of bright pink everywhere, October is breast cancer awareness month. WorldStrides International is doing our part by donating one dollar $1 to the cause for every “like” The Educated Traveler gets this month. We will even donate another dollar if you “like” WorldStrides, too! Breast cancer is the top cancer among women, both in developed and the developing world. Help us in our effort to contribute to this worthy cause.
Are you doing anything at home or in your classroom for breast cancer awareness month?
*Update: Thank you for joining us in the fight against breast cancer in October. With your help, we received a combined total of more than 2,100 new likes on The Educated Traveler and WorldStrides Facebook pages. That means $2,000 will be donated to breast cancer research! We appreciate you choosing to make a difference with us through social media!

As we’ve previously mentioned in our blog and on our website, we are now a member of the WorldStrides team!
NETC along with Casterbridge Tours now make up the WorldStrides International Division. In the upcoming months along with expanded travel perks and more tour options, you’re going to start noticing some differences to our appearance. To kick off our transition, The Educated Traveler – your faithful educational travel blog, has gotten a bit of a face lift. We want our customers and friends to know what’s going on throughout our exciting transition, so you’ll notice new tabs that give insight into NETC, Casterbridge Tours and our other international companion who specializes in individual tours, New Worlds Emerge.
In addition to our snazzy new blog, we are also transitioning our Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest accounts to The Educated Traveler brand. Don’t worry, all of the content you’ve come to know and love will still be ready and waiting for you! The only real change is if you currently are friends with Neil or NETC on facebook, you’ll need to now “like” The Educated Traveler to stay up to date on all the latest travel, education and WorldStrides International news. If you are friends with us on Twitter or Pinterest, you don’t have to do anything! If you aren’t friends with us on any of our social media outlets, what are you waiting for!
We are super excited about the expansion of The Educated Traveler and we hope you continue to follow us as a source of travel-inspired lesson ideas, education-driven content and to stay up-to-date on all of our exciting company news!
